Louise Richardson - Louise Marie Crafts
Louise Marie Crafts is run by myself, with lots of help and encouragement from friends and family! I have been running my small business for three years, but officially re-launched as Louise Marie Crafts in 2012.
I currently study BA (Hons) Decorative Arts at Nottingham Trent University, and i am in my second year. Louise Marie Crafts gives me a chance to test-drive running my own high-quality crafts business, keeps me busy, and helps to fund my education. I hope to graduate with the skills of a surface designer, and will start a new business venture in Fabric & Surface Design!
My business is run from my hometown of Felixstowe, a lovely seaside town in Suffolk, England.
I work in the spare bedroom of my boyfriends parents' house, between term time. I cut all my fabrics on the hallway floor, iron everything on a mini ironing board, and use the windowsills for my product photographs.. you have to start somewhere! :)
The idea was formed back at college, i discovered 'shrinkies' and created a small range of hand drawn, heat shrunk earrings and necklaces. I then developed an interest in other handmade crafts, and three years later i create jewellery, textiles, cards, hand-painted glassware, personalized cushions and cards, and have two stockists, as well as two online shops.
I want to create the most perfect little handmade gifts, and encourage more people to buy handmade. Its much more thoughtful and unique than any mass produced product!
